I was recently asked to produce some ukulele tracks for a record label that provides music for TV and films. Whilst this is still a work in progress (albeit a very exciting one) it gave me the impotus to update all of my (rather dated) recording equipement. recording the ukulele is always quite tricky, but thus far the new equipemtn is doing a great job. I have a Steinberg UR44 audio interface which runs directly into Cubase. For quick and easy recordings I plug my Kala CEME Electric uke straight in and away I go. I have then invested in a Rode NT4 Mic (it never fails to amaze me how expensive a good mic is !) which I will use to record my lovely Leho Concert Uke.
So this is my first video using the new equipement. I previously used a different DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) called Magix, which although basic, I got on really well with. The switch to Cubase is slightly confusing initially, but I am slowly getting there. I am hoping to do a video using the Mic soon and put that up too. Let me know what you think to the quality of the audio. Its exciting as not only will this allow me to do studio quality recordings of myself for future projects, but also I will be able to record my students in very high quality too.
